Winter Wood Fund #StandWithStandingRock

EDITOR’S NOTE: Numerous ManKind Project men have been on the ground at #StandingRock in support of the water-protectors. Several truck loads of supplies have been collected and brought to the camp from MKP men and significant funds have been sent to help with immediate needs. In the New England community, an I-Group stepped up to support by sourcing and purchasing firewood (inspected and permitted) from a nearby state to be delivered to the camp. The first shipment has already arrived at camp, and fundraising efforts are on to continue providing wood. Visiting the camp is no longer recommended or invited by those who remain. And support is still needed.

I am very moved by the efforts and heart of the people protesting at Standing Rock (#NODAPL pipeline). I am also encouraged by the efforts of many New Warrior men who have already stepped up by giving money, supplies, and themselves to this cause.

I have never gotten behind something like this before,  and there are many reasons why this cause stirred me to action:

  • The disregard of the rules/laws by the pipeline builder.
  • The pipeline builder’s disregard of the Army Corp of Engineers denial of the permit.
  • The government taking agricultural land by “eminent domain.”  This is being challenged in court by many farmers.
  • The governor threatening to issue a $1000 fine to anyone who helps the protestors.
  • Horrible weather is setting in, and a long Great Plains winter ahead.

The list is long and goes on…

I’m writing with the hope that you will support this cause, and send this letter along to all the folks you know, post on social media, etc.

Yes, please. this is the standard message out, but we need wood.
We are experiencing extreme winter conditions and it is not safe to come here now for a visit. Thank you for the continued support, we are humbled and honored by the show of support. We apologize for the delayed response, shoveling snow, chopping wood and typing away as we pray. Please consider donating as we can work out the logistics here to get the needed supplies, such as fire wood and other consumables.

Hi Justin,

Thank you so much for your organizing efforts in support of Oceti Sakowin Camp. Keeping people warm is a huge priority for us right now. We definitely encourage donations of firewood and propane gas. Please feel free to get in touch if you have specific questions.

Hi Folks,

I’m hoping that a tractor trailer load of firewood has shown up at the site.

I am trying to organize a serious crowd funding effort to focus on simply helping keeping you folks as warm as wood can help.

I have never done anything like this before and I don’t know if my efforts are the best way.

I you are ok with my efforts, I will continue as best as I’m able, if you would like another direction….or have some input, please let me know.

Yours in support.
